Meeting an unmet need for patients
Breast cancer patients lack resources and information about diagnosis, treatments, management, and survivorship of central nervous system (CNS) metastasis.
Breast cancer patients lack resources and information about diagnosis, treatments, management, and survivorship of central nervous system (CNS) metastasis.
The idea for this website was born out of an initiative of the Metastatic Breast Cancer Alliance called the Breast Cancer Brain Metastasis (BCBM) Initiative: Marina Kaplan Project. The Marina Project aims to identify and address the gaps in BCBM research, from the basic science level to clinical trials.
The project is named in memory of Marina Kaplan, a brilliant epidemiologist and powerful advocate who was diagnosed with metastatic triple negative breast cancer. She developed brain metastasis in the last year of her life and died on January 13, 2020. We dedicate this website to her and to all breast cancer patients living with brain metastasis, as well as those who have lost their lives to metastatic breast cancer.
